Donald Trump Is an Idiot

Erick Erickson of Red State fame said on Twitter that his grandparents never ate Asian food on December 7th as a way to remember Pearl Harbor.

Sure, Japan is part of Asia, but Asia is not Japan.

One is bigger than the other.

That reminds me of Donald Trump’s approach to Islam.

Let’s ban all Muslims from coming to America because some Muslims are part of ISIS.

It’s obvious that this is a stupid idea.

Some Muslims are the biggest targets of ISIS. We should be working with these Muslims instead of demonizing them.

That being said, we should be smarter in who we let in to this country.

If somebody posts comments on Facebook swearing allegiance to ISIS, we should probably think twice about letting them come to America, buy guns and then train for hours on end at the local firing range.

We should also rethink our alliance with Saudi Arabia.

Just as Donald Trump made his comments about Muslims, the Saudis announced that they were going to flood the market with cheap oil.

The intent of this is pretty simple. Put American shale oil producers out of business.

Our relationship with the Saudis is purely transactional. We buy their oil.

We have an alliance based on that singular relationship.

We saved them from Saddam Hussein, not because we loved them, but because we wanted oil security.

That’s why we are so deep into this relationship. That’s why we have such a fraught relationship with the Iranians (the Arabs hate the Persians).

It’s all about oil.

And what has our petrodollars provided to the Saudi monarchy? Resources to buy off the radical Islamists within their midst.

Those radical Islamists have spread around the globe, preaching a narrow vision that returns the world back to the twelfth century, a vision that clothes women from head to toe in dark and forbidding clothing, a vision that keep these same women from participating equally in society, a vision that inspires beheadings and the ethnic cleansing of Christians throughout the Middle East.

We don’t need Saudi oil anymore.

We have our own. So we can tell the Saudis that either they stop allowing these radicals easy access to billions of dollars or we take our military support elsewhere.

Lest we forget, it was Saudi nationals who led the 9/11 attacks.   And by the way, this petrol rich country has never compensated our citizens for those attacks.

The Saudis are secretly cheering on ISIS because they share the same religious idolatry.

You know, you can’t get a drink in Saudi Arabia. You can’t preach the Christian gospel in Saudi Arabia.   You can’t be gay in Saudi Arabia. Beheadings are pretty common there.

Saudi Arabia is not technically at war with the West, but it’s not exactly at peace with us either.

So, let’s not bow to them. Let’s not give them the benefit of the doubt. Let’s not pretend that they are our friends.

They have been funding radical Islam for far too long, and it’s got to stop. Dammit, it’s got to stop.

I think Donald Trump’s proposal to ban all Muslims from coming to America is stupid.

There are far too many Muslims who make a positive contribution to America.

If you go to Children’s Hospital, you will find the Sheikh Zayed Institute, a wing of the hospital that is dedicated to saving little lives.

Sheikh Zayed was a Muslim who helped to found Abu Dhabi and over his life, his spent billions of dollars in charitable work.

Does Donald Trump seriously want to ban people like that from coming to America?

If he does, he is an idiot.

But in the same token, we don’t have to sit idly by and let our supposed allies fund terrorist organizations that are targeting us.

And we don’t need to let in this country ISIS supporters who are intent on causing mayhem in America.
